Why does the government shut down?
WASHINGTON – Today, the House Small Business Subcommittee on Contracting and Infrastructure, led by Ranking Member Gil Cisneros (D-CA), held a hearing titled “Leveling the Playing Field: Fostering Opportunities for Small Business Contractors.” The hearing explored the decline in small business participation in the federal procurement system and the risks that Trump administration changes to federal acquisition rules pose to small firms.

Gil Cisneros (CA-31) introduced a bill, the SBIR Commercialization Improvement Act, that aims to create a better and more efficient environment for small businesses to transition their innovative technologies into successful products and services. This would foster small business growth, more effective contribution to our economy, and ensure our federal agencies have faster access to the innovation and technologies they need.
WASHINGTON — Congressman Gil Cisneros (D-CA-31) and Congressman Brian Jack (R-GA-03) introduced a bill, the Small Business Administration (SBA) IT Modernization Reporting Act of 2025, that would enhance the SBA’s ability to develop, implement, and manage IT modernization projects while mitigating potential risks in order to better serve small businesses.
