H.J.Res.79 passes House with bipartisan support

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Representative Gilbert R. Cisneros, Jr. (CA-39) voted on a bipartisan resolution to remove an arbitrary deadline previously set by Congress for the States to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), which prohibits gender discrimination. Rep. Cisneros is an original cosponsor of H.J.Res.79.

43 residents in California’s 39th District have died of gun violence and 47 have been injured since 2014
WASHINGTON, DC - For Gun Violence Survivors Week, Representative Gilbert R. Cisneros, Jr. (CA-39) wrote an op-ed in the Voice of OC on the need to act on gun safety legislation. In the op-ed, Rep. Cisneros shares his family’s experience with gun violence and highlights several bills he has voted on and introduced to curb gun violence in the United States. According to the Gun Violence Archive, 43 residents in California’s 39th District have died of gun violence and 47 have been injured since 2014.

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Representative Gilbert R. Cisneros, Jr. (CA-39) delivered a floor speech honoring gun violence survivors and calling for action on gun safety legislation. This week, February 1-8, marks National Gun Violence Survivors Week which focuses on sharing the stories of gun violence survivors. In 1960, Rep. Cisneros’ maternal grandfather was murdered through an act of gun violence. Rep. Cisneros’ mom was just 10-years-old when her father was killed, and his grandmother became a widow with six children left to raise.

The House of Representatives passed H.R. 2474, Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, a bill aimed at strengthening workers’ power to form a union and negotiate for bigger paychecks, better benefits, and safer working conditions.
