Suicide Prevention Hotline:

If you are in crisis, emotional distress, or concerned about someone, call, text, or chat 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline for free, confidential support from a trained counselor, available 24/7. This dialing code is currently available to everyone across the United States.

The former Lifeline phone number (1-800-273-8255) was transitioned to the 988 number in July 2022, but it remains functional and will connect you to 988 Lifeline services.

For Mothers

If you’re pregnant or just had a baby and you’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or just need someone to talk to, call 1-833-TLC-MAMA (1-833-852-6262) for 24/7 free confidential support.

For Veterans

Here’s a resource list from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

The Veterans Crisis Line connects Veterans and Service members in crisis, their families, and their friends with qualified, caring VA responders through a confidential toll-free hotline, online chat, or text. Dial 988 and press1 or text 838255, available 24/7.

The Women Veterans Call Center (WVCC) provides VA services and resources to women Veterans, their families, and caregivers. You can also chat online anonymously with a WVCC representative. Call or text the Women Veterans Call Center at 1-855-VA-WOMEN (1-855-829-6636) or use the online chat feature.

For Military Members

Military OneSource is a 24/7 gateway to trusted information, resources and confidential help for servicemembers and their families. It provides tax services, spouse employment help, webinars and online training, relocation and deployment tools, and more. Call 1-800-342-9647 anytime to speak with someone.

California Crisis Prevention Hotlines

Crisis support lines from the California Department of Public Health.

The RAINN National Sexual Assault Hotline provides support for anyone affected by sexual assault, whether it happened to you or someone you care about. Call 1-800-656-4673.

For older adults, the Friendship Line provides emotional support, medication reminders, well-being telephone check-ins and grief counseling for people who are 60 years and older and adults living with disabilities. Call 1-888-670-1360.

The California Peer-Run Warm​​​​line provides support for when you find yourself, friend or loved one in crisis. Call or text 1-855-600-9276.

The CaliforniaYouth Crisis Line is a 24/7 statewide emergency response system for youth (ages 12-24) and families in crisis. Call or text 800-843-5200.

The LGBT Youth Talkline is a safe space where you can open up and talk about coming out, bullying, isolation, identity, family issues and much more. It is anonymous and confidential. Call 800-246-7743.

The Trevor Project provides free and confidential information and support to LGBTQ young people 24/7, all year round. You can connect to a crisis counselor via chat online, text ‘START’ to 678-678, or call 1-866-488-7386.

The Teen Line provides peer crisis support and resource referral. Call 1-800-852-8336 or text “TEEN" to 839-863.

The Family Urgent Response System (FURS) is for children and youth (up to age 21) who have spent time in foster care and for their caregivers. Call or text FURS at 1-833-939-3877.

For Help With Substance Abuse

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) National Helpline is a free, confidential, 24/7, 365-day-a-year treatment referral and information service (in English and Spanish) for individuals and families facing mental health challenges and/or substance use disorder. Call 1-800-662-HELP.
