Support For Homeless Veterans
For 24/7 temporary housing and shelter assistance, veterans can call Volunteers of America at (213) 563-7979. For 24/7 support from trained VA staff members call The National Homeless Veteran Call Center at (877) 4AID VET (or (877) 424-3838). For general support, call the Veterans Affairs Emergency Housing Hotline at (310) 268-3350.

Affordable Housing
Visit Housing Choice Vouchers HUD Facts and Public Housing to contact your Local Public Housing Authority about their public housing programs. To find out more about programs offered locally, visit the Housing Department of the City of Los Angeles.
Assistance with Bills
The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) provides rental assistanceand housing resources through the Public Housing and Housing Choice Voucher programs. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau also offers resources to help with bills. For assistance with utility bills, contact the LA city government here.
Homeownership
Federal Housing Administration (FHA) loans are government-insured mortgages designed to create a pathway to homeownership for qualifying individuals. Learn about FHA loans and programs here. Find educational resources on homebuying on the HUD website or on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau website.
Housing Discrimination
If you are experiencing housing discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, or disability, you are protected under The Fair Housing Act. To report discrimination, file a complaint with The HUD office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity. You can also file a complaint over the phone at 1 (800) 669-9777. Housing Counseling
HUD has a searchable list of approved housing counselors that can discuss your situation and housing needs with you. You can also call (800) 569-4287 to be connected with counseling services.
Disaster Relief
If you have recently experienced a disaster, register with The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Once you are registered, HUD provides additional support for ongoing recovery. You can also call the HUD Disaster Line at 1 (800) 304-9320.
