Rep. Cisneros Supports Southern California Manufacturers, Holds Secretary Hegseth Accountable
Washington, DC – Last night, Rep. Gil Cisneros voted yes on the Fiscal Year 2026 National Defense Authorization Act. The bipartisan legislation included a critical investment in southern California manufacturers, a 3.8% raise for servicemembers, support for our allies abroad, and much needed oversight to hold Secretary Hegseth accountable.
I voted yes on the final passage of the FY26 National Defense Authorization Act in recognition of the bipartisan measures in the bill that will support our servicemembers and protect our national security,” said Rep. Gil Cisneros. “Though I am deeply disappointed in the Speaker’s choice to forgo the longstanding democratic process during final negotiations, I believe that this bill will ultimately secure the wins that we prioritize most for our troops, and deliver the most crucial resources for our military. Once enacted, the bill will increase quality of life measures for our troops, starting with a 3.8% pay raise and expanded access to childcare, bolster congressional oversight into the Trump administration’s dangerous military actions, support southern California manufacturers, and reaffirm the prohibition on privatizing the commissary system. I will continue to stand up for all of our servicemembers and always put their needs first.”
Rep. Cisneros is a Navy Veteran and the former Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness. He currently serves on the House Armed Services Committee, Subcommittee on Military Personnel, Subcommittee on Intelligence and Special Operations, and Appropriations Defense Subcommittee. Rep. Cisneros is a member of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and serves on its leadership team as the Freshman Representative.
