Rep. Cisneros Leads Letter Condemning LA SBA Office Relocation

June 13, 2025

Washington, DC – Today, Rep. Gil Cisneros (CA-31) led a letter to Administrator Kelly Loeffler, expressing strong opposition to her decision to relocate the U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Regional Office out of Los Angeles. This move follows her previous announcement to move six other SBA Regional Offices out of major metropolitan areas with high concentration of small businesses. Her latest decision came in response to protests against the ICE raids in Southern California that are splitting families apart and targeting working immigrants rather than criminals.

“Administrator Loeffler does not seem to understand that she is the Small Business Administrator, not the Secretary of Homeland Security,” said Rep. Cisneros. “Pulling resources out of Los Angeles will only hurt small businesses and does nothing to keep anyone safe. This is a political act of retaliation and it’s going to punish small businesses across the region. I strongly oppose the relocation of the Los Angeles SBA Regional Office. Ms. Loeffler should focus on supporting small businesses, not stripping them of resources.”

Last week, Rep. Cisneros questioned Administrator Loeffler on her decision to move SBA offices out of major economic hubs, fearing Los Angeles would be next.

The letter was signed by Members of the Los Angeles Congressional Delegation and Small Business Committee Members, among others. Cosigners include: Rep. Thompson (CA-04), Rep. Brownley (CA-26), Rep. Chu (CA-28), Rep. Rivas (CA-29), Rep. Friedman (CA-30), Rep. Sherman (CA-32), Rep. Gomez (CA-34), Rep. Torres (CA-35), Rep. Lieu (CA-36), Rep. Kamlager-Dove (CA-37), Rep. Sánchez (CA-38), Rep. Garcia (CA-42), Rep. Barragán (CA-44), Rep. Tran (CA-45), Rep. Correa (CA-46), Rep. Jacobs (CA-51), Rep. Vargas (CA-52), Rep.
