January 3, 2025

Swearing in as Member of the 119th Congress

Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Gilbert R. Cisneros Jr. was sworn in as a Member of
the 119th Congress as the representative for California’s 31st Congressional District. He returns
to the hill after serving in the Biden-Harris Administration as the Under Secretary of Defense for
Personnel and Readiness.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to return to Congress and serve the people of the San
Gabriel Valley. From serving in uniform in the U.S. Navy to starting my foundation with my
wife Jacki, I’ve dedicated my life to public service and have always put my country and my
communities first. I am ready to serve, and I am committed to fighting for the needs of my
constituents. I will always put the people of 31st District first, whether it's pushing for more
resources for the water, transportation, and environmental needs of the San Gabriel Valley,
fighting to lower everyday costs for hardworking families, or ensuring our servicemembers,
veterans, and their families receive the benefits they have earned. And I will fight to hold the
incoming administration and this Republican House majority accountable. I look forward to the
work ahead.”

Rep. Cisneros is a former Navy veteran, the former Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel
and Readiness, and previously served in the 116th Congress. He will be a member of the
Congressional Hispanic Caucus, Congressional Labor Caucus, New Democrat Coalition, the
bipartisan For Country Caucus, and Pro-Choice Caucus. California’s 31st District encompasses
parts of eastern Los Angeles County and the San Gabriel Valley, including West Covina, El
Monte, and Baldwin Park.
