Rep. Cisneros Condemns ICE Action in L.A, Arrest of David Huerta

June 6, 2025

Washington, DC – Today, Rep. Gil Cisneros released the following statement:

“I’m deeply disturbed by the ICE raids unfolding across Los Angeles and the arrest of SEIU-USWW President David Huerta.

David is not only a courageous leader but also a trusted friend. He was exercising his constitutional right to protest when he was harassed, tased, injured, and unjustly arrested. This is nothing short of a targeted act of intimidation meant to silence communities of color.

Under President Trump, communities of color have been relentlessly vilified and scapegoated through deliberate, racially charged policies. These tactics are meant to sow fear, not justice.

California has long stood as a symbol of hope and refuge for immigrants, reflecting the true promise of America. Something Trump’s administration has tried to dismantle at every turn.

We must stand together, strong, loud, and unyielding against these shameful abuses of power.”

It’s important that members of the community know their rights if approached by ICE agents or the police, regardless of their immigration status.

Rep. Cisneros is a member of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and serves on its leadership team as the Freshman Representative.
