WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Representatives Gilbert R. Cisneros, Jr. (D-CA-39) and Pete King (R-NY-02) introduced the Fallen Pandemic Heroes Flag Act (H.R. 7770). The bipartisan bill would allow Congress to fly a U.S. flag over the U.S. Capitol in honor and gratitude of individuals who lost their lives working on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic. These flags would be provided to requesting families at no cost. To view the full text of the bill, click here

“This pandemic has taken a huge toll on families across our country. Countless people have tragically lost their lives, including those who tirelessly worked to keep our communities safe,” said Rep. Cisneros. “With a heavy heart, I’ve introduced legislation with Rep. Pete King to provide our country a way to pay tribute to our fallen frontline workers. These Capitol-flown flags show that we share their families’ grief while honoring their service and sacrifice. Frontline workers are our heroes.”

“For those frontline workers who lost their life as a result of their service in response to the COVID–19 Pandemic it would be a very small but meaningful gesture for Congress to recognize their sacrifice and express our sympathy. I commend Rep. Cisneros for leading this effort,” said Rep. King.
