Rep. Cisneros Votes to Send Both Articles of Impeachment to the Senate
WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Representative Gilbert R. Cisneros, Jr. (CA-39) voted to send both articles of impeachment against the President of the United States to the Senate. On December 18, 2019, the House voted to impeach President Trump on two charges: abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.
“Today’s procedural vote represents the next step in impeachment proceedings, following the President’s actions to undermine the integrity of our elections and our national security for his own personal and political benefit,” said Rep. Cisneros. “My colleagues in the Senate swore the same oath to serve our country and defend our Constitution. They have a duty to provide the American people with a fair and just impeachment trial. They have a responsibility to hear from appropriate witnesses and subpoena relevant documents, anything less would be unacceptable and an affront to our Constitution.”
