Rep. Cisneros Statement on Equal Pay Day
FULLERTON, CA - Today, Representative Gilbert R. Cisneros, Jr. (CA-39) issued the following statement regarding Equal Pay Day:
“Even during this crisis, we cannot stop fighting for paycheck fairness. March 31st marks Equal Pay Day because it’s the number of extra weeks that women have to work, on average, to earn the same pay as men in the previous year—it’s even worse for women of color. That is unacceptable,” said Rep. Cisneros. “As American workers are struggling to make ends meet, women are making less money and have less for the everyday needs of their families. We cannot accept this status quo, and it’s why I’m committed to closing the gender pay gap and voted to pass the bipartisan Paycheck Fairness Act last year. Our work is far from over. Equal pay for equal work.”
On March 29, 2019, Rep. Cisneros voted to pass H.R. 7, the bipartisan Paycheck Fairness Act.
On February 13, 2020, Rep. Cisneros voted on a bipartisan resolution to remove an arbitrary deadline previously set by Congress for the States to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), which prohibits gender discrimination.
