Rep. Cisneros Hosts CA-39 Education Committee Listening Session to Discuss Coronavirus Impacts on Public Schools

FULLERTON, CA - Today, Representative Gilbert R. Cisneros, Jr. (CA-39) hosted a call with school superintendents and school board members from California’s 39th District. Rep. Cisneros provided updates on congressional action to combat the coronavirus and listened to the concerns and struggles of 39th District public schools with the global pandemic. The education committee specifically talked about distance learning, access to broadband, and support for mental health.

“As the father of two young boys, I know firsthand how the sudden closure of schools and transition to distance learning has affected our students, families, teachers, and school administrators. The coronavirus has put all of us in a tough situation, and I want our school community to know that I’m working in Congress to address their concerns,” said Rep. Cisneros. “Whether it’s providing student meals, access to the internet, or support for our teachers, one of my top priorities is to ensure everyone has the resources and funding to effectively participate in distance learning. I want to thank our superintendents, school board members, school administrators, and teachers for working together to navigate these challenging times. Their continued commitment and dedication to education is inspiring and instills confidence in their students.”
