Rep. Cisneros Discusses Support for Women Veterans with American Legion
WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Representative Gilbert R. Cisneros, Jr. (CA-39) discussed how Congress can better support women veterans with the American Legion during a joint House Veterans Affairs Committee and Senate Veterans Affairs Committee hearing.
“Women veterans are the fastest growing demographic in our veteran population. There’s a lot of ground we have to make up to ensure our women veterans are getting the healthcare they deserve and create an environment at the VA that is welcoming and safe,” said Rep. Cisneros. “Congress has to do more to get rid of barriers to their care. I look forward to continuing to work with my Democratic and Republican colleagues, as well as the Department of Veterans’ Affairs and veterans groups to make sure we are supporting our women veterans now and in the future.”
Rep. Cisneros is a Navy Veteran, a lifetime member of American Legion Post 277 of Placentia, CA, and member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee and the Women Veterans’ Task Force.
