FULLERTON, CA - Today, Representative Gilbert R. Cisneros, Jr. (CA-39) condemned President Trump’s executive order blocking undocumented immigrants from being counted in the 2020 Census for the purpose of determining congressional representation.

“Instead of working to stop the spread of the coronavirus, President Trump is putting his energy into undermining the U.S. Census. This executive order is another blatant, backward attempt to depress the number of individuals who could participate in constitutionally-mandated population count. After the Supreme Court blocked him from adding a citizenship question to the 2020 Census, the President is trying to unlawfully sidestep their ruling,” said Rep. Cisneros. “For months, community members, organizations, and small businesses in the 39th District have been teaming up to ensure we get a full and accurate count. The President should take a page from their book and work with us to get everyone counted.”

Rep. Cisneros has been a strong advocate for a full and accurate Census count.
