Rep. Cisneros Applauds Appropriations Committee Passage of Homelessness Funding for FY 2021
FULLERTON, CA - Representative Gilbert R. Cisneros, Jr. (CA-39) applauded the passage of Emergency Solutions Grant funding in the House Appropriations’ Fiscal Year (FY) 2021 Transportation, and Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies (THUD) Subcommittee funding bill. Rep. Cisneros led a 13-Member letter to the subcommittee advocating for this funding.
“Emergency Solutions Grants have proven to be successful in addressing and preventing homelessness in the 39th District. Following my letter to the Appropriations THUD Subcommittee, I’m glad they’re providing the funding needed for this life-saving program to support local work by organizations like Pathways of Hope,” said Rep. Cisneros. “During this public health crisis, it’s especially important that we support the most vulnerable in our communities, and this funding goes a long way in helping those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. This funding means access to both safe and sanitary shelters as well as supportive housing services.”
The Committee approved $290 million for Emergency Solutions Grants. The Appropriations THUD bill will now head to the House floor for a vote.
On April 6th, Rep. Cisneros announced nearly $10 million in ESG funding distributed to the three counties in CA-39 under the CARES Act.
