Rep. Cisneros Announces Nearly $800,000 to Expand Coronavirus Testing for CA-39 Health Centers

FULLERTON, CA - Today, Representative Gilbert R. Cisneros, Jr. (CA-39) announced $770,232 for three CA-39 health centers to expand coronavirus testing. The funding comes from the Fiscal Year 2020 Expanding Capacity for Coronavirus Testing (ECT) award and will go to North Orange County Regional Health Foundation, St. Jude Neighborhood Health Centers, and Friends of Family Health Center. Congress appropriated this testing funding from the Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act which Rep. Cisneros voted for and the House passed on April 23rd. “Access to coronavirus testing has been one of the biggest concerns in the 39th District. I’ve been tirelessly fighting in Congress to ensure our health centers, hospitals, cities, and counties get the funding and materials they need to properly test our residents,” said Rep. Cisneros. “The health and safety of my constituents is my number one priority, and I know more needs to be done. As our state starts to slowly open up, we have to make sure we have the necessary testing supply to meet our demand.” 

The funding is distributed to three 39th District health centers:

  • $140,764 - North Orange County Regional Health Foundation
  • $278,044 - St. Jude Neighborhood Health Centers
  • $351,424 - Friends of Family Health Center                         
  • $770,232 - Total

Fiscal year (FY) 2020 Expanding Capacity for Coronavirus Testing (ECT) award provides one-time funding to support health centers to prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Specifically, funds may be used for necessary expenses to purchase, administer, and expand capacity for testing to monitor and suppress COVID-19. For more information, click here.

On March 25, Rep. Cisneros announced over $300,000 in coronavirus supplemental funding for CA-39 Health Centers coming from the first coronavirus response bill. 

On March 30, Rep. Cisneros announced over $50,000 in coronavirus supplemental funding for the Korean Community Services’ health center coming from the first coronavirus response bill.

On April 6, Rep. Cisneros announced over $31 million in coronavirus aid for CA-39 cities and counties coming from the coronavirus stimulus package.

On April 8, Rep Cisneros announced $2,242,230 in coronavirus aid for health centers in California’s 39th District.
