Michelle From Fullerton
My office recently assisted a constituent from Fullerton with updating her income with the Social Security Administration (SSA). In 2016, the constituent and her husband sold their business and their warehouse, resulting in a large one-time capital gains, leading to an increase of their income in 2017. In 2018, their income was greatly reduced, they were eligible for reduced Medicare payments. They submitted multiple letters to SSA requesting for an adjustment, but to no avail. After my office submitted an inquiry to the SSA, she received a refund from SSA for Medicare overpayment and will be receiving a total of $12,480 in benefits for the year.
