Recently, my office was able to successfully assist a constituent regarding her concern that another individual had been using her identity with Medicare and Medicaid services. My office followed up with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid services which were able to initiate a records request and inquire about the usage of her Medicare by the fraudulent user in a different state. Fortunately, the fraudulent claim was reprocessed and canceled, allowing her to receive corrected Medicare Summary Notices.

My office was able to successfully assist a family from Buena Park whose IRS w-7 forms were denied. We helped with reviewing their required materials and followed up on her case with the U.S Department of IRS. The IRS was fortunately able to decide in their favor, resolving their issues in renewing Individual Taxpayer Identification Number.

Recently, my office assisted a constituent from Yorba Linda who contacted my office regarding the interview process for his wife’s immigrant visa application after being unable to successfully do so in several previous attempts. My office contacted the United States Embassy and was able to acquire a new link process through which my constituent was able to successfully obtain the obtainment for his wife’s interview with the embassy. When my constituent further had trouble scheduling a biometrics appointment, we were able to inquire the embassy to direct our constituent to the appropriate procedure to directly schedule the prerequisite biometrics appointment.

My office was able to successfully assist a constituent from Fullerton with expediting her son’s immigrant visa petition who currently resides in Sri Lanka. Due to the humanitarian concerns with bombings and threats in the region, the constituent has asked my office to assist her with expediting the application. My office was then able to submit an inquiry to the USCIS, allowing my constituent to obtain the information that her request will be processed over the next few business days. We were also effectively able to serve as a point of contact through the process.

My office recently assisted a constituent from Fullerton with an issue regarding filing a damage claim with the Transportation Security Administration for his ophthalmic equipment. After a year of no response from the TSA, we were able to follow-up with the TSA, which designated a claim control number for his case and reported back that his claim is in the process of being adjudicated. The TSA then finished processing his claim and ruled in his favor, allowing Dr. Kirchen to retain the value of his damaged claim.

Recently, constituents from Fullerton contacted my office regarding the closing of the Sunny Hills Post Office in Fullerton, which would cause an inconvenience to residents and businesses in the surrounding area. My office contacted the United States Postal Services (USPS) and was informed their lease for the property located at 1820 N. Sunnycrest Drive, Fullerton, CA 92838 would not be renewed and will end September 2019. USPS will now do a formal search to lease a comparable facility in the same vicinity, and my office will continue to monitor the situation.

My office recently assisted a constituent from Hacienda Heights with frequent misdeliveries of her mail. The constituent had previously filed numerous complaints with the United States Postal Service, but to no avail. After my office submitted an inquiry with the postal service, the postmaster started keeping a Special Notice Card in the letter carriers’ cases, and the letter carriers covering the route were given instructions to ensure correct delivery.

My office recently assisted a constituent from Walnut with obtaining an appointment for her global entry application. She filed her application earlier this year but had yet to receive any update since then. After my office submitted an inquiry to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, she was able to obtain her appointment.

My office recently assisted a 85-year-old constituent from Anaheim with obtaining an appointment with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) Field Office in Los Angeles. The constituent filed an elder abuse complaint with the EEOC in February 2018 and was assigned with an appointment in May 2018. However, due to her limited mobility, she missed her appointment in May 2018. She had since then made multiple attempts to contact the field office requesting for a new appointment, but to no avail. After my office submitted an inquiry and requested for a new appointment for the constituent, she was able to obtain an appointment immediately with the EEOC Field Office in Los Angeles.

I was happy to help a veteran who is applying for Gulf War Illness benefits. His application had been held up because he had not been able to schedule a required assessment physical for nearly six months. With the help of the Loma Linda VA’s Congressional Liaisons Office, we were able to get him that appointment. He came in on Friday and by the next Thursday, we got him a timely appointment that had been holding up his claim for months.
